The African Union of Broadcasting (AUB), in partnership with UNU-INWEH and HEC Montréal, is pleased to introduce the moderator of its upcoming session on “Water Scarcity, Food Security and Stability in North Africa.” The strategic discussion will be led by one of the prominent voices of African journalism: Mr. Mohammed Ali of Nigeria.
An experienced journalist leading the discussion
Faced with urgent climate challenges, water resource management has become a fundamental pillar of security and stability across the continent. To guide this high-level exchange, the organizers selected Mohammed Ali, a major figure in Nigeria’s and Africa’s media landscape.
Deputy Director of News at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) — an active AUB member — Mr. Ali is an experienced broadcast journalist and senior reporter with more than 30 years of field experience. Throughout his career, he has built a strong reputation covering major political and environmental issues, a combination of expertise particularly suited to moderating this multidisciplinary discussion.
He is also recognized for his commitment to media capacity-building, leading numerous training workshops across Nigeria and contributing actively to the Daily Trust Foundation, an initiative supported by the Ford Foundation to strengthen journalism standards.
A strategic meeting for North Africa
The session will explore the close links between water management, agricultural resilience and socio-political stability. It will bring together media leaders, international environmental experts and public decision-makers.
